Electrification

Getting your home off gas

Induction cooktop, electric oven, hot water and heating. We handle the whole electrical side of going all electric, including the board capacity it quietly depends on.

Induction in, gas out. The cooktop is usually the change people notice most, and it needs its own circuit back to the board.

The part people find out too late

Going all electric is usually sold as an appliance decision. In practice it is a switchboard decision. An induction cooktop wants its own circuit. So does an electric oven. Heat pump hot water and reverse cycle heating each add load again. Put all of that on a board built for a house with a gas stove and a gas heater, and the board becomes the limiting factor.

Finding that out on install day, with the appliance already delivered and the gas already disconnected, is a bad afternoon. It is worth twenty minutes at the board first.

What we do

  • Check what the existing board and supply can actually carry
  • Run dedicated circuits for the cooktop, oven, hot water and heating
  • Upgrade the switchboard where the capacity is not there
  • Connect and test the new appliances, and certify the work

The gas side itself, disconnection and any plumbing, is a licensed gas fitter's job rather than ours. We work in alongside them and will tell you what order things need to happen in.

Doing it in stages

Very few people replace everything at once, and you do not have to. The sensible order is usually the board first, since it unblocks the rest, then cooking, then hot water, then heating as each old appliance reaches the end of its life. We can map that out so each stage is useful on its own and nothing gets done twice.

Rebates

Victorian rebates and incentives for electrification change regularly, and eligibility depends on the household and the appliance. We do not administer them and will not guess at what you will get. Check the current Victorian Energy Upgrades and Solar Victoria information, or ask your appliance supplier, and we will work in with whatever you qualify for.

We will give you a straight answer and a fixed price. If it is urgent, ring instead and we will pick up.
